The lack of digital skills and reliable connectivity has a negative effect on European businesses and citizens. The BCO Network is part of the European Commission’s strategy towards closing this digital gap and providing means for regional and local authorities to introduce smart innovation, improve connectivity and ensure greater competitiveness in rural areas. During the 2019 European Week of Regions and Cities, the BCO Network held a workshop focused on how to ensure future dynamic rural areas, presenting ways of introducing innovation to create smarter rural and remote areas. Speakers included DG AGRI’s Margaret Bateson-Missen, EIP-AGRI’s Pacôme Elouna Eyenga, the ENRD’s Paul Soto and Agrivi’s Tanja Folnović. Check out the event highlights here: https://europa.eu/regions-and-cities/programme/sessions/335_en This video and event are part of the European Broadband Competence Offices (BCO) Network’s annual programme supporting broadband deployment in Member States. Alongside working directly with Member States and regions, the programme promotes awareness of EU funding, policy and support for broadband, as well as of good practices in broadband projects. The programme includes a series of videos, articles and publications accessible through the BCO Network portal.
