The medical devices industry is being radically transformed by digital technologies as the industrial and healthcare ecosystem shifts to connected healthcare models and artificial intelligence. Furthermore, data enables the development of new solutions. Manufacturers specialised in medical devices are challenged with new consumer-goods oriented actors and digital service providers entering the value chain. Firms are forced to adapt their business models and generate new value by offering complementary services such as data analytics. This video of the Advanced Technologies for Industry (ATI) project presents the key findings of the Sectoral Watch “Technological trends in the medical devices industry and related healthcare”. The video presents how medical devices are being transformed by advanced technologies, the adoption of advanced technologies in the healthcare sector, and the supply and demand of the required technical skills in the industry.
